A bit of reprieve -covid safety measures not always followed!
I had to come here to review them twice last week. The first time my phone ran out of battery so I had to come back a few days later to complete my review. In 2012 when I first rated them -no review -I awarded them 2 stars. Food wasn't that great at the time My second visit was outside where I ordered a biftekia and the second time I ordered chicken souvlaki. The second time I wanted to check out their protocols for indoor dining. In the first instance, the waiter told me I could come inside but had to wear a mask. There was no check for proof of vaccines. However, I gave them a break by dining outside. The third time I dined inside. I was in a good mood and hungry. I remained the waitress to check my vaccine status on my Excelsior app. I did not give them 1 star as all the staff were really friendly. During my meal indoors one of the waiters remembered me from the first visit and provided a nice cup of coffee and a Greek pastry with was close to a lecce flan,o me the house. (not sure what the Greeks call it) During the second meal, one of the senior employees came over and gave me a fist bump. I think he must have noticed me evaluating his taverna? What was made up in the confusion over the vaccine mandates was that almost all the waiters wore masks. However, this did not apply to the bus boys, cooks and other employees. I like to start off any Greek meal with a side order of tarama and the main course with lemon potatoes, Greek-style. In both cases, the dishes were very dry and in meal #1 the lemon potatoes were off. In the second meal, the Lemon potatoes tasted like lemon potatoes should taste, a little firm, but easy to break apart., flavored with a taste of lemon. The taverna has a very comfy (dining) feel to it-the tables inside are a little too close to one another- but spacious enough to enjoy a meal for one. Will I be back? Greek Gem
While visiting Astoria, New York we dined at Taverna Loukoumi since I had been there many years ago and the place only gets better. I started with an perfect grilled octopus and had their baby lamb chop special—absolutely delicious. This is a gem for those who like good authentic Greek food. Not only a mouth-watering Greek diner but a welcoming hub of conviviality. The azure-marble bichrome courtyard is certainly an aesthetic feast, bringing one to the Chios Island, especially when international travel is not a possibility.Their grilled branzino (European Sea-bass) is unrivalled; their Rizogalo (rice pudding) and hummus are also phenomenal. Their home-made Raki is one of a kind.I am always a fan of mediterranean cuisine but I will create a new category in my conception of gastronomical delicacies just for this restaurant! Strong recommended as a family/friend reunion/solo-fine dining place!In addition, it is a great pleasure to have encountered the most lovely and hospitable family here. Excellent ambiance and food
It was our first time at a Greek restaurant, but I’m so glad this place was our first.This restaurant was clean. The decor and ambiance facilitated a good time amongst friends, but the icing on the cake was, the food. It was unbelievable!The staff was friendly and attentive, and our waitress made us feel as if we were her only customers. Five stars all the way! Amazing visit
This was my and my family’s first visit here and it was simply amazing. Maria, the owner, made us feel so very welcome. She was incredibly hospitable and her recommendations for meals to suit our cravings this evening were completely on point. The bronzino was fantastic, and all the side dishes were incredibly flavorful. The loukoumi, one of the treats at the end of the meal, was also a nice touch. We can’t wait to come back again! Amazing Greek restaurant
The food here is amazing; Authentic, fresh, and delicious. We ordered many mezzedes ( appetizers) and a karaf of wine. The staff was so friendly and polite with us. Best Greek Restaurant in Astoria NY
Loukoumi is a real authentic Greek restaurant-cuisine.. The service was amazing, the food GREAT, Atmosphere Good.Huge portions, all main courses comes with a side dish, try the red snapper, and for appetizer try the grill cheese halloumi. Highly recommended!

Il locale e' carino , curato
Il locale e' carino , curato con personale gentile. Il listino prezzi ( dalla pagina menu' di tripadvisor andrebbe aggiornato poiché ci sono rincari di 3-4 dollari per piatto ) Niente di quello che ho ordinato mi ha sbalordito ..... leggendo le recensioni avevo delle aspettative più alte ... in zona ci sono ristoranti greci migliori ( tenendo in considerazione lo stesso rapporto qualità prezzo ! )
